[edit]Impel was founded in 2011 by Mike Quigley and Devin Daly under the original name, SwipetoSpin.[5][6] In 2014, the company received funding from Stonehenge Growth Equity Partners [7] and rebranded from SwipetoSpin to SpinCar, focusing exclusively on developing 360-degree imaging solutions for the automotive retail industry.[5]
The company received its next round of funding from Wavecrest Growth Partners in 2018.[8]
In May of 2021, the company acquired Pulsar AI, an automotive conversational AI platform.[9] Following the acquisition, the company rebranded to Impel in March 2022.[10] In November 2022, Impel AI acquired Carlabs.ai, a U.S.-based provider of conversational AI products for the automotive service industry.[11]
