Sanitation Harvest is the process of removal of individual trees (or their groups) from the forest of dry, shrinking, very weakened, damaged by pests, diseases or as a result of natural phenomena, or man-made effects. Sanitation harvests can be selective (when one tree or their group are cut, being 5 and more per hectare) or continuous (when trees are cut down on an area of 0.1 hectares or more). The process of sanitation harvest refers to the so-called "sanitary measures"[1][2]. According to the Sanitary Rules in the Forests of Ukraine, approved by the Cabinet of Ukraine on July 27, 1995, No. 555, the Rules for Improving the Quality of Forests, approved by the Cabinet of Ukraine on May 12, 2007, No. 724, sanitation harvest is a manadatory measure in the forests of Ukraine[3][4].
