Indian Women in Dubai (IWD) is Dubai’s Women Community Group for Indian women living in Dubai. It was created in 2020 by Reema Mahajan, a social entrepreneur and content creator.[1]

Indian Women in Dubai was established with the aim of networking and empowering women, the community has grown to more than 60,000 registered members, with over 100,000 Indian women actively participating across various platforms.[2]

The foundation of this group is rooted in the belief that 'when women support each other, incredible things happen'.[3]

Reema Mahajan[edit]

Reema Mahajan (Hindi: रीमा माहाजन), the founder of Indian Women in Dubai[4] was born in 1983 and raised in Chandigarh. Reema pursued her education in engineering at IIT Delhi and later completed her MBA from IIM Bangalore. She worked at Bain and Company in London, before eventually moved to Dubai to establish the Indian Women in Dubai community.

Reema is married to Amit Gupta, an IIT and IIM Alumnus who runs his own business in Dubai. She has two children, aged 7 and 4.[5]

IWD Vision & Mission[edit]

The Indian Women in Dubai community is dedicated to the empowerment of women. Its mission involves creating connections between expat women and providing a platform for showcasing their talents and creativity.[6]

IWD envisions a safe space where Indian women living in Dubai come together to uplift and empower each other to achieve their fullest potential. They support women-led businesses and do various philanthropic activities.[7]

Contributions & Achievements[edit]

Since its establishment, IWD has supported over 5,000 women entrepreneurs and conducted 150+ events. IWD has worked with overall 500+ brands over the years including Tally.[8]

The community has been recognized by newspapers such as Gulf News and Khaleej Times, labeling it as the 'Family Away from Family' and the 'Google for Indian Women in Dubai.'[7]

Indian Women in Dubai has collaborated on numerous initiatives with the Consulate General of India in Dubai, offering support for their endeavors aimed at serving the Indian Community. The organization has collaborated with the Consulate General of India in Dubai for the celebration of International Women’s Day. [9] [10]


IWD runs free programs for supporting women — such as breast cancer awareness, job alerts, fitness support groups, food and recipe groups, and book clubs.

IWD has an initiative called ‘Free Business Sundays’, where more than 5,000 women meet digitally to promote their businesses free of cost.[7] [11]

IWD also held a cultural event for cancer survivors and patients in collaboration with Al Jalila Foundation, at Majlis Al Amal, a ‘cancer drop-in center’ dedicated to female patients and their wellbeing.[12]

IWD hosted 30 staff members from the Al Noor Foundation to spread hope and happiness. It has also worked with Children of Determination to raise awareness with the Al Noor Training Centre for People of Special Needs.[13]

Through their series of ‘SHEinspires’ and ‘Women of Wonder Podcast’, they share the achievements of the women inside and beyond their community. In the podcast, they have invited women like Shreya Pattar, Harnidh, Sudha Chandran, Priya Jethani, and more.

IWD has been selected as a Meta Community Accelerator Program 2022.[14]

Indian Women in Dubai Awards[edit]

The Indian Women in Dubai Awards honors the achievements of women within the community every year through the IWD Awards.[15]

The first season of IWD Awards in November 2021 showcased the talents of women across 35 categories including, entrepreneurs, designers, bakers, homemakers, bankers, and more.[16] [17]

In 2022, season 2 of the IWD awards was attended by Mandira Bedi[3][18]

The Season 3 of the IWD Awards was organized on 17th Sep 2023. It was attended by celebrities like Sudha Chandran.[19]
