Inge Inkiriwang Jambak - International Sports Official and Former Indonesian Professional Athlete

Inge Inkiriwang Jambak (born 21 January 1971) is a former female bicycle racer, bicycle racing activist, and Indonesian politician from West Sumatra. Her name is well known as a bicycle racer in the 1980/90s. Now she is trusted as Head of the Foreign Relations Division of PB ISSI (Indonesian Cycling Sports Association) under the management of Raja Sapta Oktohari. Inge is the founder and administrator of the Association of Indonesian Cycling Athletes (AICA).

Early Life[edit]

When Inge was attending Yos Sudarso Middle School in the city of Padang East Java she loved playing football. However, one day she broke her hand while playing Goalie. Her parents prohibited her from playing football again. Therefore in 1985 she started competitive cycling. She was trained by her father's friend, Frans Tupang, who was the 1978 SEA Games gold medalist. Because of her great potential she was selected for the Indonesian national road race championships and won second place. At the same time she became the first Indonesian international female cyclist from West Sumatra when she was selected as a member of Indonesian national team for the 1987 SEA Games.

International Sports Official[edit]

During her involvement in bicycle racing at various national and international events she visited no less than 43 countries in the world to include visits to Africa, South America, Antartica and The United States of America. She also serves on the boards of many Indonesian national and international organizations to include being a meber of the Indonesian 2020 Olympic Committee, Tokyo Japan .

Later Political Career[edit]

After retiring from competitive sports she embarked on a political career. In 2014 she served as Secretary General (Sekjen) of the PB ISSI under the management of Edmound J.T. Simorangkir in 2014, replacing the previous secretary general, Sofyan Ruzian.[1][2] In the political field, Inge also served as Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) of the National Mandate Party (PAN) [3]

Personal life[edit]

Inge Inkiriwang Jambak was born in Jakarta to parents of Minahasan and Minangkabau descent, but she grew up in West Sumatra. His father was a Minahasan with the surname Inkiriwang, while his mother was a Minangkabau who came from the Jambak tribal clan, Padang Pariaman.
