"Jamal Kudu" or Jamal Qodu (in Bandari dialect: Jamal Kodu), which is also known as Jamal Jamaloo  and Siah Zangi(سیاه زنگی: Black of Zanzibar), is a song in the Bandari music style composed by Ebrahim Shahdousti[1], a songwriter, composer from Hormozgan, Iran, the home of Bandari music style. It was originally the story of a black slave named Jamaal or Jamaalak in Qajar times and about his hardships. It was composed for a play that was never performed [2] . The song was performed on TV by Shahdousti on Persian Gulf local TV and Shiraz local TV in 1971.

Different Iranian singers and music groups have performed this song with (sometimes drastic) variations, including the "Leyva group"[3], "Zia", and numerous other artists.

The fame of this piece went beyond the south of Iran for the first time when Zia Atabai a popular pop singer and musician released his version on his album "Hele Mali". This piece was so well received by the young generation that at the same time the high school choir "Memory Girls" performed it on a radio program and published by "Studio Sayeh" in the album "Memory no 1" [4].

Over the years, this song also gained many fans in Iranian weddings. [5]

Zia Atabai's version[edit]

This song gained global popularity after being published as "Jamal Jamaloo" by pop musician Zia Abtabai [fa] in the album Hele Mali (Album) [fa]. The music was arranged by Andranik Asatourian [fa], the Iranian-Armenian musician.

Use in the movie Animal[edit]

The song Jamal Kudu was featured in the Hindi film Animal (2023) the song of the scene of the entrance of Bobby Deol's character. [6] This song gained many fans first in India and then worldwide, and many dance videos were made from it. After uploading this piece on YouTube, it was viewed 9 million times within an hour and passed the 15 million mark after 2 days.

"I have arrived" (من آمده ام), is another Iranian song that became popular in Pakistan in 2015.
