James Graham Lake is an American lawyer who is a nominee to serve as an associate judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Education

Lake received a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College in 2005, a Master of Science from Pace University in 2008 and a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from New York University School of Law in 2012.[1]

Career

Lake served as a law clerk for Judge Harry T. Edwards of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 2013 to 2014 and for Judge Mark R. Kravitz, Judge Janet Bond Arterton, and Judge Michael P. Shea of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut from 2012 to 2013. From 2014 to 2019, she worked as an associate at Bredhoff & Kaiser, PLLC. In 2019, he joined the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia and since 2021, he has served as chief of the Workers' Rights & Antifraud Section.[1]

Nomination to D.C. superior court

On July 31, 2024, President Joe Biden nominated Lake to serve as an associate judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.[1] President Biden nominated Lake to the seat vacated by Judge Jennifer M. Anderson, who assumed senior status on March 22, 2024.[2] His nomination is pending before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
