Jane Burnett Smith was a saddle bronc rider and rodeo performer in the United States.

Early life[edit]

Jane Burnett Smith grew up on a ranch in Montana and rode her first steer at the age of twelve. She was a well-known women’s saddle bronc rider in the 1900’s and later joined the army and became an author.

Career[edit]

Her career took her from small town rodeos all the way to Madison Square Gardens. Burnett Smith was of a small group of women who busted broncs and broke barriers for women in the male-dominated sport in the mid-1900’s.[1]
