Draft:Jimmy Hawk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jimmy Hawk is the name of Australian singer-songwriter, James Ratsasane's most notable project to date. With a sound that could only be described as dream filled, Jimmy Hawk's soulful melodies and swaggering charm has been likened to artist such as Big Star, Elliot Smith and George Harrison.

Echo Park

[edit]

The seeds for Jimmy Hawk's debut album 'Echo Park' were planted when Ratsasane rented a room in Echo Park, an artistic area of Downtown, L.A. Tailing from the swirling breakup of his long time band, The Rumours, he escaped to the vibrancy of California and surrounded himself with old vinyl records, and a guitar. He lived there for three months, filling his days listening to records by Dylan, Johnny Burnette and the Neil Young. This special time slowly began feeding an uninhibited new musical focus.
