John Donald Brakenridge CNZM^[1] (born 30 October 1961) is a New Zealand businessman and a former chief executive officer (CEO) of The New Zealand Merino Company.^[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Brakenridge was born in Pukekohe. He holds an MBA from the University of Canterbury and has also completed post-graduate study at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.^{[citation needed]}

Career[edit]

Brakenridge was the founding CEO of The New Zealand Merino Company (NZM), an integrated sales, marketing, and innovation company recognised for transforming New Zealand’s Merino industry.^[3]^[when?]

Brakenridge was a director of Pāmu, New Zealand's largest farming organisation, from 2011 to 2019.^[4]^[5]

He is the current CEO of Brakenridge Impact Group (BIG), a consulting group providing high impact solutions to global businesses.^{[citation needed]}

In the 2024 New Year Honours, Brakenridge was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to the New Zealand food and fibre sectors and the merino industry.^[6]

He currently lives in Christchurch, New Zealand.
