Joseph F. Mullins, commonly known as Joe Mullins, is an American politician associated with the Conservative Party. He is the founder and president of The Mullins Companies. Mullins is the Flagler County commissioner and the vice chairman of Northeast Florida Regional Council Affordable Housing.[1][2]
Biography
[edit]Mullins was born in Evans, Georgia. After completing high school, Mullins attended the University of Georgia in 1991 and graduated with a bachelor of science in management in 1995. While studying at the university, he worked part-time as a news reporter at the radio station UGA.
In 1994, Mullins founded a holding company, The Mullins Companies, and since, he has been serving as its president. The company was included at number 19 in the list of Bulldog 100 by UGA Alumni Association in 2015. In addition, he is the Flagler County commissioner and vice chairman of Northeast Florida Regional Council Affordable Housing.[1][2]
Mullins had been involved in drug abuse for a decade, and after the demise of his father, he started rehabilitation treatment in 2011, which was completed in 2017. After becoming the commissioner of Flagler County in the following year,[1][2] he established Opioid Task Force to counter drug abuse in the Flagler region, Florida. He also introduced broadband services through rural parts of Flagler County in 2019. Since 1998, Mullins has been holding events for raising charity, including Lady Antebellum and The Kelley Brothers golf tournaments, The junior Seau Foundation, and others.
