K.K Ramakrishnan, winner of SIGCOMM Award for Lifetime Contribution, is professor at the University of California, Riverside since Jul 2014. He completed his Bachelor of Electronic Engineering (1971-1976) from University Visveswaraya College of Engineering, his Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Automation (1976-1978) from Indian Institute of Science and his Ph. D. (1978-1983) in Computer Science from the University of Maryland College Park.

He is a senior technical leader with expertise in network architecture, protocols, systems and industrial research.

He received the SIGCOMM Award for Lifetime Contribution 2024 for pioneering, sustained contributions in the research, design and standardization of network congestion control and avoidance protocols, virtual private networks, operating systems support for networking, and carrier-grade voice over IP by the committee of Lixin Gao (UMass, Amherst, Chair), Dan Rubenstein (Columbia University), Peter Steenkiste (CMU), Geoff Volker (UCSD).
