Kaplan Award

The Kaplan Award is an Israeli award given for streamlining and increasing work productivity. The award was founded in 1954 and named after Eliezer Kaplan, the first Minister of Finance of the State of Israel. The winners of the award were determined by a committee headed by the director of the Institute for Labor Productivity and Production, and the award was presented to the winners by the Minister of Labor. For many years the award was given as part of the production productivity week.

  • Lt. Col. Yosef Rom Romanovski of the Navy Shipyard for the first major renovation of a submarine in Israel and computerization in the renovation process.
  • Dror Ben-David on the development of IBM systems.
  • Mordechai Kikyon, for the establishment of Rafael's computer center.
  • 1957 - Hammat Armatures and Castings for increasing productivity in the nail department.[1]
  • 1959 - Edward D. Mitchell for for outstanding achievement in behalf of Israel Bonds.[2]
  • 1960 - Julius Fligelman for outstanding achievement in behalf of Israel Bondsand activities on behalf of the University of Judaism, Brandeis Institute, American Technion Society, ZOA, Weizmann Institute of Science, California Israel Chamber of Commerce, and other institutions of Jewish culture and welfare.[3]
  • 1961 - Yosef Hai Levi Nahum for his contribution to the field of food preservation.
  • 1961 - Thomans Neiman for outstanding achievement in tire Israel Bond effort.[4]
  • 1962 - Jack Kahan, in behalf of Israel Bonds, for his local community service and helping organize the Federation of Polish Jews and the Bialer Landsmanschaft that provide financial assistance to Jewish institutions.[5]
  • 1963 - Moshe Roseman, in behalf of Israel Bonds, for heading Zionist activity and engagement in the printing and insurance fields.[6]
  • 1964 - Bernard J. Glickman for outstanding achievement in behalf of Israel Bonds.[7]
  • 1965 - Israel Friend, in behalf of Israel Bonds, for being active in the work of the Poale Zion and Farband relating to Israel and Jewish education.[8]
  • 1966 - Harry Abrams for outstanding achievement in behalf of Israel Bonds.[9]
  • 1967 - Jacob Mins on the optimization of the machines and increasing the output in the wood factory.
  • 1968 - Eitan Zahavi on the development of balloon wheels.
  • 1969 - Shimon Kleer, head of the planning and construction team of the Argaman factory, for converting the yarn dyeing department of the factory to automatic processes.[10]
  • 1969 - Harry Sternfield for heading local community activities, his work for the Histadrut Campaign and the Jewish National Fund, and exemplary participation and leadership in the Israel Bonds.[11]
  • 1970 - Arnold Skovron for his lifelong dedication to community service.
  • 1971 - Sam and Charlotte Scharf for their decades-long service in the Labor Zionist movement.[12]
  • 1972 - Mrs. David Simon for her outstanding service in the Pioneer Women Organization, World Zionist Council, United Jewish Welfare Fund-Labor Zionist Division, and Women's Division for Israel Bonds.[13]
  • 1974 - Dov Eshkol on the development of tourism in the Galilee.
  • 1975 - Yehuda Shinnar, David Weiss, Zvi Axelrod, Tuvia Lenman, and Eli Shapira, on their development of the CR-17 mini-computer at Elbit Computers Ltd.
  • 1986 - Barry Printing on the development of the "envelope".
  • 1988 - Nello Rubin on labor productivity.
  • 1989 - Efi Rosenzweig, Shmuel Kern on the establishment of the Tambor factory in Acre.
  • 1994 - Adi Elder for excellence in the reception of residents and new immigrants in Karmiel.
  • 1995 - Meir Avital for excellence in management, creativity and originality, development of advanced technology, achievements in research and execution.
