  • Comment: Hey, thanks for the article! This one had a few good sources, but we'd need a few more for Kate Cobb to meet notability guidelines for living people (WP:NBIO). Ideally, there would be a handful (think five or six) of articles that discuss her work in relative depth — more than a passing mention. Also, we'd need consistent in-line citations. Let me know if you have any questions! Crunchydillpickle🥒 (talk) 23:17, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Kate Cobb (Born September 19,1987) is an American film director, producer and actress. She is known for her feature directorial debut Okie, which is set to have a festival premiere early 2024. She also executive produced the feature with her husband and business partner Kevin Bigley, with whom she founded In The Rye Productions.

Early life and education[edit]

Cobb was born and raised in Elmhurst Illinois, a suburb just outside Chicago. She began acting in theatre as young as kindergarten, and at the age of 13 she moved to Kildare, Ireland and attended Newbridge College, where she continued to participate in stage performance.

After returning to the US for high school, she was accepted into The Theatre School at DePaul University where she graduated in 2010 with a BFA in acting.

Career[edit]

After graduating college, Kate moved to Los Angeles where she enjoyed over a decade of acting work in film and television, including Shameless, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, and recurred on the unreleased David Fincher series for HBO. She can also be seen in the feature film Operator[1] and Every House is Haunted[2], both of which debuted at SXSW, and starred in a HULU’Blumhouse feature The Current Occupant.

In 2014, she co-founded a production company, BigCob Productions, and worked exclusively with Funny or Die to write, produce and act in numerous short-form sketch films, which eventually lead to a short series, Parked, which premiered on Amazon Prime. She has since founded In The Rye Productions with husband and writing partner Kevin Bigley, that focuses on creating film and television.

While transitioning to directing, Kate attended UCLA’s Directing Extension program, after which she was awarded ‘Best Director’ at the UCLAxFilmFest[3] for her short Dandelions. Having utilized the short as a proof of concept, she secured funding for the feature version, Okie, which wrapped shooting in August of 2022[4] and is set for a festival run in 2024. She recently completed a residency at Princeton University creating visual music content with a PhD Music Composition candidate and directed an extended run of Will Eno’s play The Realistic Joneses[5] at The Drake in Los Angeles, which was featured in Broadway World.

She lives in a small mountain town outside Los Angeles where she is presently in pre-production to direct her next feature which she co-wrote with partner Kevin Bigley.
