Draft:Kate Hopkins

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kate Hopkins is a NYC-based multidisciplinary artist. With an MFA in printmaking, she has also worked in furniture and lighting design as well as painting and drawing.[1] Hopkins’ recent work, inspired by the scales that cover butterfly wings, explores the naturally healing qualities of biomorphic designs. Her work also explores the textile-like quality of the paintings and the similarity in process and labor inherent in mediums like weaving, quilting, and embroidery. Hopkins' creative process blurs the lines between consciousness, time, and identity, allowing her to view herself as a verb. This experience as a creator helps her understand the meaning behind creative work, which is crucial for personal growth and community well-being.[2]
