Kawaiiconic[edit]

Alison Jessica Jones (born 24 February 1996) known professionally as Kawaiiconic or Kawaiiconic Ali, is an alternative fashion influencer and musician. Known her for monochromatic fashion sense and influence in the Japanese fashion community, she is best known for her appearance on Truly's 'Hooked on the Look'[1] an online fashion documentary series.

Early life and Career[edit]

Born and raised in Kenai, Alaska, Alison had a passion for music and art at a young age. Growing up in a creative family alongside her twin sister Josephine 'IgikoPop' Jones, the duo often sang and danced for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, where they developed a love for performing.[2]

Alison expressed a passion for songwriting in her late teens, and this talent eventually lead her and twin sister recognition in the form of a runner-up placement in a songwriting contest[3] held by the Grammy Awards for young songwriters.

Upon graduating from high school, Alison enrolled at the University of Idaho. Throughout her college years, Alison continued to lend their vocals to various small online projects. It was during this time Alison and her sister contributed vocals to a promotional video[4] for the unreleased Yandere Simulator.

As her college years unfolded, Alison began to make a name for herself online. With a distinct fashion sense characterized by her pink hair and monochromatic Harajuku inspired wardrobe, she started posting photos of her unique lifestyle and fashion choices on Instagram[5]. This move inadvertently led to the growth of a small but dedicated online following, establishing Alison as a social media influencer going by the stage name Kawaiiconic.

The trajectory of Kawaiiconic's life took an notable turn when she became the subject of a digital documentary on Truly's (formally known as Barcroft TV) "Hooked on the Look,"[6][1][unreliable source?][7][8] offering viewers a closer look at her unique style and the journey that led her to become an active figure in the digital and western Japanese street fashion community.

Media Presence and Influencer Career[edit]

After gaining recognition through the documentary "Hooked on the Look[9]," Kawaiiconic began working as a social media influencer, collaborating with renowned brands such as Hot Topic and Sugar Bear Hair. Her unique look and interpretation of Harajuku fashion and all pink style earned her the nickname 'the pink icon'.[10]

Kawaiiconic's journey continued to unfold in the spotlight, with her story chronicled in additional documentaries. Notably, she was featured in Truly's "Transformed"[11] and was a subject for ZoominTV, further showcasing her unique perspective and pink lifestyle[12].

Kawaiiconic moved to Japan on April 23, 2021 [2][non-primary source needed] to pursue an acting and music career[13]. While in Tokyo, she was involved in various small voice acting jobs, as well as playing an extra on the television show 青天を衝(つ)け [14][15]to lending her vocal talents to the NHK television show Eigo de asobo Meets the World[unreliable source?][16].Her most notable achievement in Japan was participating Konami's BEMANI Pro League tournament as an English language commentator.[3][unreliable source?][17]

Not limited to the screen, Alison collaborated with artist S3RL on the song 'Doki Doki ドキドキ,'[4][18] contributing both vocals and lyrics. She previously released several singles, the most notable being Roppongi and Tatemae. This period also marked the beginning of her collaborative efforts with Endigo.[19] Kawaiiconic took on the role of stylist for Episode 2[20] and of Drag Race Sverige, where she designed Endigo's look for the 'Longstocking Extravaganza' maxi challenge.[21]

She is currently based in Stockholm, Sweden.
