Kerri-Anne Dooley is the member-elect for the seat of Redcliffe as of 26 October 2024. She is a member of the Liberal National Party and presumptive representative for the seat Redcliffe after the 2024 Queensland State Election. Dooley has contested the seat six times since her first campaign as a Family First candidate in 2012. She has since run in the 2014 by-election and the 2015, 2017 and 2020 state elections representing the Liberal National Party, until her eventual success in the 2024 state election, defeating Labor candidate Kass Hall.[1]
In February 2024, it was announced that Attorney-General and representative for Redcliffe Yvette D'Ath would not be recontesting in the October 2024 election.[2][relevant? – discuss]
Education and career
[edit]Dooley has a Bachelor of Nursing and Masters of Health Science/Clinical Education in palliative care from Griffith University.[1]
She has worked primarily in the healthcare sector, specialising in disability support and palliative care.[1]
Controversy
[edit]In 2017, Dooley attended an Australian-themed housewarming party and took a photo with a man wearing Blackface in costume as M Yunupingu, the late lead singer of Yothu Yindi. She later apologised for taking the photo.[3]
In the 2024 Queensland State Election, reproductive rights became a prominent issue among voters.[4] Photos resurfaced of Dooley attending an anti-abortion rally with Amanda Stoker.[5]
