This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Career[edit]
Debut with Le Sserafim, Bullying scandal and departure[edit]
Kim Garam was revealed as the second member of Le Sserafim on April 5, 2022.[1] She debuted alongside the other members with the release of FEARLESS on May 2, 2022.[2]
Before she debuted, bullying allegations started to surface. These allegations were made by former classmates of Kim Garam, accusing her of bullying and being violent. HYBE denied these allegations on May 16, a forged official document of a school violence committee meeting was released.[3]
On May 19, the alleged victim took legal action and stated they had to transfer schools due to Garam's bullying. She alleged that she had to drop out of school due to anxiety and suicide thoughts. They released a statement saying that if HYBE has no plans on issuing an apology, they will publish more documents.[4]
On May 20, source music disclosed that Garam will be taking a hiatus from group activities because of the bullying accusations and that Le Sserafim will be promoting as a 5-member group until further notice.[5]
On July 20, 2022, Garam has officially left the group. She was active for a total of 18 days and in the group for about 2 months.[6]
On August 10th, Garam made her first public appearance since May and released her statement through a friend's Instagram account.
“ | Hello, I'm Kim Garam. Firstly, I want to say sorry. It's too late, but I haven't had the chance to tell you my position. Since I worked hard for my dream, it's true that I was honestly afraid that my past actions would ruin it. But as the days went by, a lot of the criticism against me got scarier, and I honestly wanted to convey my position if I had the chance.
1. i never hit anyone or used violence. 2 i've never been forced to transfer. 3. i've never drunk or smoked. 4. i've never bullied or ordered anyone around 5. i was just a normal student The school violence committee incident took place between March and May of middle school when "yoo eun seo" gossiped about me and my friends and uploaded a picture of my friend wearing her underwear. I argued with "yoo eun seo" because I thought I was helping the victim, and whilst doing so, I started swearing.[7][8] |
