Dr Kristen Alexander is an Australian military historian who has written six books as well as numerous articles for a variety of journals and magazines. Her work details Australian aviators and has included biographies of Clive Caldwell, Jack Davenport, and Lores Bonney. In 2020 Dr Alexander was awarded her PhD by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra.[1]
In March 2022 it was announced that Dr Alexander was awarded the Australian War Memorial's Bryan Gandevia Prize for Australian military–medical history, for her PhD thesis, 'Emotions of Captivity: Australian Airmen Prisoners of Stalag Luft III and their Families'.[2] The Prize was established to commemorate Professor Bryan Gandevia's contribution to the development of Australian military and medical history and his contribution to the research and publication activities of the Australian War Memorial.[3] It is considered "one of the most generous awards for postgraduate studies in Australian history".[2]
