The Lane Cove Concert Band (LCCB) is a Sydney based community concert band[1] formed in 1963 located in Lane Cove of Sydney's Lower North Shores.[2] It natures young musicians[3] with its annual Young Soloists' Competitions[4], holds join performances with school bands[5] and fosters ongoing music education with their series of Adult Beginner Band programmes aimed at enabling older adults with little to no prior musical abilities to start making music.[6] It was listed as a community organisation in desperate need of funding by the Lane Cove Council.[7] In 2012, it was a finalist of the Music Council of Australia's Music in Communities Awards for its work in "focusing on re-engaging with lapsed players and adult beginners".[8] The band is also the recipient of Create NSW's Community Band Development Grants in 2022, 2023 and 2024.[9]

The band has won first place at the Australia New South Wales Concert Band State Championships in 1987, 1992, 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2007.[10] Most recently it has been 2nd runner-ups at the New South Wales Concert Band State Championships Open Grade B in years 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2024.[11]

LCCB also supports local Australian composers by commissioning new music for wind bands, such as Aubade: for concert band by Mark Grandison[12][13], Sequential Dances for symphonic wind band by fourth-generation Sydney musician Gregory Butcher[14][15] and premeired composer Barry Gott's compostion "Jazz Suite for Band" with the composer.[16] Most recently it commissioned 3 pieces by Australian composer Dr Ralph Hultgren[17] which it premiered at the band's 60th Anniversary Concert.[18]
