The Lington was a British make of Cyclecar that was introduced in 1920. Manufactured in Bedford, it appears not to have continued in production for much time beyond that year. The most comprehensive account of the Lington's design and history was published by Bill Boddy in Motor Sport.[1] The company appears to have developed a suitable v-twin engine called the Novelette in 1919 before launching their car the following year. The make is also described and illustrated elsewhere.[2][3][4]
Specifications[edit]
Two contemporary advertisements for the Lington give details of the specifications of the car, and one also gives a price of £175.[5] The features include weather equipment (full hood), lighting and tool set; foot and hand brakes operating on the rear wheels; pressed steel wheels; an engine starting system operated from the driving seat by pressing on a foot pedal, and a dry-plate clutch. The engine is described as a 10 h.p. air-cooled vee-twin, mechanically lubricated.
