Draft:List of honorary fellows of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: To be honest, I think this is so non-notable that I could have rejected rather than declined the draft. The sources cited are all close primary ones, hence there is no evidence of the primary notability criterion of stand-alone lists, namely that the group has been discussed as a group by independent sources.
I also don't see the point of publishing an article on a topic as obscure as people on whom a particular organisation has seen fit to confer a particular grade of membership. I can understand why that would be of interest to the organisation, but not to anyone outside that context. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; a list like this should instead be accessible on the website of the organisation in question.
If this list is to be included anywhere, I would merge it into the main Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy article, although I hasten to repeat that I don't think this should be included even there (such articles typically would include lists of past presidents or similar, if any, which this is not). There have been 71 honorary fellows of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. The AusIMM was granted a Royal Charter in 1955. As a result, all honorary fellows hold the right to use a post-nominal. The post-nominal is HonFAusIMM.[1][2]

The following lists all notable living and deceased honorary fellows since the award was given out in 1962.[3]
