Zack Treharne (born October 20, 1995), better known by his online name Little Z, is an Australian YouTuber, Esports personality, podcast personality and professional Super Smash Bros. player. He is known for his gaming videos, especially on the Super Smash Bros. series. He is also known for video game montages, as well as IRL challenges and is one of the four co-founding members of YouTube group the Underdogs.

Little Z

[edit]

Treharne created his main YouTube channel on February 10, 2014.[1] His first video published was Nosepass is OP - Pokemon Showdown Forfeit Inducer., a montage video about Pokémon. Since then he has gone on to create videos about Super Smash Bros. and other Nintendo video games, often which feature HopCat, Poppt1 and Director Cogger.[2][3] The logo on the channel is a depiction of the gen two Pokémon, Delibird.

Some notable ongoing series that Treharne creates may include "X Is OP!", a montage series where he showcases a certain character from Super Smash Bros. or Pokémon, and how the character can win easily, "You Lose, You Cosplay!", a Super Smash Bros. challenge series where Treharne will cosplay as the character he plays as, until he loses, where he switches to cosplay and play as the character he lost to or "DEADLY SMASH SPECTATE" a Super Smash Bros. challenge series where Treharne and a guest bet on a fighter in the online spectate mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the person who bets wrong has to do a "punishment".[4][5][6] Treharne also creates various other gaming and Super Smash Bros. related content, such as gameplay and skits, and has created videos with Alpharad, Marss, Ava Kris Tyson from MrBeast, etc.[7][8][9]

Whilst most of his content is gaming related, Treharne has more recently created IRL content, often being a type of challenge that doesn't involve gaming, such as selling lemonade on "the world's loneliest road" and spending a week in rollerblades.[10][11] He has stated he plans on doing more of this "new style of content" in the future, as they "truly make him happy", but will make more smash bros content eventually.[12]

Underdogs

[edit]

On March 3, 2022, Treharne, alongside Peter Waghorne (HopCat), Jordan Ridley (Poppt1), and Jackson Cogger (Director Cogger) created a group channel,[13] where they release various content where they create competitions against each other or together.[14][15][16] Treharne has stated that he believes the channel has the potential to surpass his individual channel in popularity, as well as the individual channels of the other group members. [17] The logo on the channel is a painted orange paw print on a black background. It has four equally sized digital pad prints, likely referencing to the four members in the group.

Underdogs Gaming

[edit]

On April 29, 2020, Treharne, alongside the same group of people in the "Underdogs" YouTube channel created a gaming group channel,[18] where they play games such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., the Wii series, Mario Party and various other games with comedic commentary.[19][20][21][22] The channel was originally called "Little Z2", before being changed to "Underdogs" and then "Underdogs Gaming" as it is known now. The logo on the channel is a recolor of Underdogs logo, with the orange replaced with white and has segments of blue, green, yellow and orange.

The Underdogs Podcast

[edit]

On March 20, 2022, the Underdogs created a podcast channel, where they create weekly podcasts where they talk about various subjects.[23] The podcast originally started on the Underdogs Gaming channel, before being moved to a channel of its own.[24] The podcast was later added to audio platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts from episode 60 onwards.

A Little More Z

[edit]

On November 18, 2019, Treharne created a second channel where he uploaded Super Smash Bros. clips reactions, as well as a daily Super Smash Bros. Ultimate series.[25][26] The logo on the channel is a purple recolor of the original channel profile picture, referencing the shiny variant of Delibird. The channel was discontinued in 2022, due to an online game in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being "so boring and terrible". [27]

Professional Super Smash Bros.

[edit]

Treharne has competed in Smash in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He primarily uses Wario, but also uses other characters such as Donkey Kong and King K. Rool.[28] He has previously placed highly in tournaments he has taken part in, but in recent years, he does not enter tournaments as commonly. [29]

On December 3rd 2020, Treharne joined esports company Panda Global as a sponsored influencer and content creator.[30] Whilst he didn't enter many tournaments under the Panda Global license, he created various content for the company's socials, such as being in YouTube videos alongside Marss, ESAM, WaDi and Coney, as well as general promotion of the company in his original content. On December 5th 2022, Treharne announced he was leaving Panda Global due to him not agreeing to the way they responded to certain controversies and not wanting to associate to the brand.[31]

Personal life

[edit]

Treharne was born in Perth, Western Australia on October 20, 1995. He left his original primary school in sixth grade due to being bullied. In his high school, he met Peter Waghorne (HopCat) and Nick (Snuffless). At 23, he moved in with Jackson Cogger (Director Cogger), his friend Simon and Jackson’s girlfriend at the time. Treharne then moved in with Waghorne, but he now lives with his fiancé, Maddison Powell. In 2023, Treharne proposed to Powell on a holiday in Turkey.[32] [33] As of August 2024, they are not yet married.[34]
