There are various popular stories about Lakshmi in Bengal society. These stories are recited on the day of Lakshmi Puja in the form of Panchali. It is called Lakshmi Panchali. Among the Vratakathas of Lakshmi, the "Bruhaspatibar Vratakatha" is the most popular. Also in "Panchali of Baromas" there are references to many mythological stories about Lakshmi.
