Los Turcos, or the Turks, in English, was the coloquial name given by Latin Americans to refer to the series of immigrants originating from the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East and North Africa. Despite many of the immigrants being Arabs, Armenians, Kurds, and Sephardi Jews, the term was used to refer to the entire population as a whole.
Los Turcos came to affect many different aspects of Latin American culture, such as the dish Al Pastour in Mexico, and the influence of many Arab Latinos (Salma Hayek, Nayib Bukele).
