Draft:Lucy Heavens

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lucy Heavens is a South African comedy writer and actress. Alongside Nic Smal, she is the co-creator of Kiff and serves as an executive producer and writer for the series, in addition to writing and producing songs and voicing Helen and Miss Tulane.[1]

The show is inspired by the people and places the duo experienced when they were growing up in Cape Town.[2] In the early stages of the show's development Heaven's and Nic Smal would hike Table Mountain in Cape Town while discussing the stories and characters of Kiff.[3] This led to the creation of Table Town[4], the primary setting for Kiff Chatterley and the show's other character.

Heaven's comedy inspirations are The Simpsons, Monty Python, SpongeBob Square Pants and Animaniacs. As a child Heavens amassed a collection of self-recorded VHS tapes of The Simpsons.[5] Heavens cites the absurdism in these shows as something that influenced the human and relatability aspect in designing the world and characters of Kiff.[6]

Kiff The series premiered on March 10, 2023, on Disney Channel in association with Titmouse Inc.[7] In June 2023, the series was renewed for a second season.[8] In 2023 Kiff was nominated for two Children's and Family Emmy Awards in the Main Title and Voice Directing for an Animated Series categories[9]
