Maggie and the Ferocious Beast: The Movie is an upcoming animated adventure comedy film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Nelvana Animation, and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios. The film was directed by Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland, and screenplay by Stoller. It is based on Maggie and the Ferocious Beast by Michael and Betty Paraskevas. The film stars Ariana Greenblatt, Kumail Nanjiani, Dan Levy, Stephen Kramer Glickman, Daveed Diggs, Harvey Guillén, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Jon Favreau, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Rooker, Don Cheadle, Andy Serkis, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Rockwell, Stanley Tucci, Jeffrey Wright, Eugene Levy and Samuel L. Jackson.

Cast[edit]

  • Ariana Greenblatt as Maggie, a 5-year-old girl. She is Hamilton's and Beast's best friend, who is adventurous.
  • Kumail Nanjiani as The Ferocious Beast, a yellow elephant-like creature, with big red removable spots, and three horns on his head. His catchphrase is "Great googly moogly!".
  • Dan Levy as Hamilton Hocks, a pig who can be bossy and quite fussy, but he does have a warm heart. He lives inside a handheld cardboard box which he likes, is the best cook in Nowhere Land, and is a total-clean freak.
  • Conrad Vernon as The Jellybean Team, a red one, an orange one, a yellow one, a purple one, a black one and two green ones.
  • Daveed Diggs as Nedley, a white rabbit who speaks in rhymes.
  • Harvey Guillén as Rudy, a cheese-loving mouse who lives in a large wheel of cheese in a part of Nowhere Land called Cheese Town.

Additionally, Stephen Kramer Glickman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Jon Favreau, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Rooker, Don Cheadle, Andy Serkis, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Rockwell, Stanley Tucci, Jeffrey Wright, Eugene Levy and Samuel L. Jackson have been cast in undisclosed roles.

Production[edit]

In Augist 2024, Nelvana formed a multi-year partnership with Connecticut-based animation studio Blue Sky Studios, forming an animation division called Nelvana Animation. Nelvana Animation hired former Illumination and DreamWorks Animation CCO Chris Meledandri in late November 2024, as Head of Animation. Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland was announced as directors in February 2025, with pre-production beginning the following month. In May 2025, Stoller was announced to write the film, reuniting with Sweetland after having previously worked together on Storks (2016). Amazon MGM Studios would distribute the film under its Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer label except for Canada, it was reported that the film would be titled Maggie and the Ferocious Beast: The Movie.

Casting[edit]

In May 2025, Ariana Greenblatt, Kumail Nanjiani and Dan Levy was announced to stars as Maggie, Beast and Hamilton Hocks. In August 2025, Stanley Tucci, Jeffrey Wright and Eugene Levy joined the film as Maggie, Beast and Hamilton's fathers. In November 2025, Stephen Kramer Glickman, Daveed Diggs, Harvey Guillén, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Jon Favreau, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Rooker, Don Cheadle, Andy Serkis, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Rockwell and Samuel L. Jackson were added to the cast.

Animation[edit]

The film's animation was provided by Nelvana.

Music[edit]

It was reported that Mychael and Jeff Danna would compose the film's score, marking his third collaboration with Stoller and Sweetland following Storks (2016).

Release[edit]

Maggie and the Ferocious Beast: The Movie is scheduled to be released by Amazon MGM Studios in the United States on July 16, 2027, while Warner Bros. Pictures will handle the film's international release.
