Majid Ali (Born September 5, 1953) is a 1980 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre who retired from the services in 2013. He was born in Basti, UP, in 1953. He held several important portfolios during his 33-year-long tenure.
Education
[edit]Majid holds a Master of Science in Physics (M.Sc. Physics), from Aligarh Muslim University.
Career
[edit]Majid Ali served in various key positions for Government of Uttar Pradesh. He retired from the IAS as Principal Secretary in Department of Institutional Finance. Prior to this role, he worked as the Principal Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh in various departments such as Transport (where he also served as the Chairman of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC)), Panchayati Raj, Revenues, and Science and Technology.
Majid Ali's key assignments in the state government included Special Secretary and Secretary to Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Sh. Motilal Vora, during the president's rule, Secretary in the departments of Cane and Sugar Industries, Women & Child Welfare, Social Welfare. He also served as the Divisional Commissioner of Bareilly Division, Commissioner of Transport, Cane and Sugar Industries, Land Consolidation, Exports, Milk, and Revenues Departments. He also served as the Director of UNICEF and the Child Welfare Department, the Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Financial Corporation (UPFC), and the UP Export Corporation (UPEC). He served as the District Magistrate and Collector of various districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh, including Gorakhpur, Almora, Lalitpur, and Fatehpur.
