Draft:Margaret E. Reesor

Margaret Elaine Reesor (3 May 1924, Toronto - 21 January 2010) was a Canadian professor of philosophy.

Education

She attended Riverdale Collegiate Institute and Victoria College at the University of Toronto, where she received her BA in 1945 and MA in 1946. She completed her doctorate at Bryn Mawr in 1951. Her dissertation was entitled "Political Theory of The Old and Middle Stoics".

Career

Following completion of her doctorate, Reesor taught at various institutions across the United States, before returning to Canada a decade later in 1961.

Reesor taught at Wells College from 1950-3, Women's College at the University of North Carolina from 1954-8 and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1958-60. From 1960-1 she was an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky before returning to Ontario as a lector for Queen's University, where she worked from 1961-3. From 1967-75 she worked as an assistant and associate professor at Queen's University, before becoming a professor of classics from 1975-87. During this time period Reesor was also a visiting fellow at Princeton from 1973-4 and 1980-1.
