Marko Antun Lantana, Italian count from a noble family (originally from Bergamo, Italy) in Zadar, Croatia.

Mark Antun Lantana was an Italian count and was known for his active participation in the political life of the Zadar region in what is today Croatia. His family originated from Bergamo in Italy. His family is known for the Venetian style summerhouse, Villa Lantana, in the Dalmatian countryside in Sutomišcića on the island Ugljan. He agreed to hold a big ceremony in his summer house - the handover of the duties of the Venetian doge for Dalmatia and Albania. This happened until Venice collapsed in 1797. The family still owned the mansion and the last woman to stay there was Countess Lantana who successfully traveled to Italy and left the castle in the care of her staff.

Marko Antun Lantana was a member of the Croatian noble family in Dalmatia, that moved to the Zadar region from the area around Bergamo in Italy. The Lantana family has been mentioned in Zadar sources since 1588. Among its first members are the Zadar pharmacist Armano and the doctor of law Franjo. From the end of the 17th century sources mention several prominent members of the family; Ivan the Baptist is mentioned in 1711 as rector of law at the University of Padua, while Colonel Šimun distinguished himself in the Venetian military service, who on November 5th 1752 he was accepted into the nobility of the city of Nin. On July 20th 1796, Šimun's sons Božo, Marko Antun and Josip were accepted into the Zadar nobility.

In 1797, Marko Antun is mentioned as a consulting judge (giudice consigliere) and a member of the delegation from the city of Nin that was sent to take the oath of allegiance to the new Austrian administration. The noble title of the Lantan family was also confirmed for the French administrations in Dalmatia (1806), and in 1822 the Austrian authorities recognized the noble title of Josip. In 1830, the latter is mentioned as a military commander in Sutomišćica on the island of Ugljan, while in the same year the post of deputy serdar in Ervenik near Zadar was held by Šimun. In the second half of the 19th century, Josip , a cultural worker and supporter of the People's Party, was active in Zadar. In Sutomišćica, there is a baroque summer house of the family from the 17th century. Until the fall of Venice in 1797, the ceremony of handing over the duties of the Venetian Doge, Venice's highest elected official, to Dalmatia and Albania took place in this mansion.

Archival material on the Lantana family is stored in the State Archives and the Scientific Library in Zadar.
