Comment: It is doubtful that that honor, RTÉ's Female Journalist of the Year Award (an in-house award), is notable in its own right or that it confers notability on the recipient. There seems to be no significant discussion or coverage of the subject in secondary sources, and combined with the horse matter this just looks like another vanity BLP of a non-notable person. Mary Fanning McCormack,[1] known professionally as Mary Fanning, is an Irish broadcast journalist and producer.[2][3] A bloodstock horse breeder, she is also board member of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust.
Early life and career[edit]
Fanning is a native of Monasterevin, County Kildare, Ireland, and is the daughter of former Assistant Garda Commissioner, later United Nations official, Stephen Fanning.[4] She had a brother, Gerry.[4]
She is a presenter and producer on the RTÉ feature programme Nationwide; as of 2021, she had worked on the programme for 26 years.[5] She won RTÉ's Female Journalist of the Year Award in 1985,[5][6][7] the Justice Media Award of the Law Society in 2017,[8] and the Travel Extra Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award in 2020.
Personal life[edit]
Fanning is married to Larry McCormack.[4][9][1] Fanning and McCormack bred the Aintree winning horse, Bill Baxter; Fanning has also bred another Aintree winner.[10]
