Matthew Morgan (born London) is an art museum director. Since January 2022 he has been Museum Director of Turner's House in Twickenham.[1]

Education[edit]

Matthew Morgan studied history at the University of Cambridge. He studied history of art at the Courtauld Institute and received his PhD from Birkbeck, University of London.[2]

Career[edit]

Morgan worked at until 2008 at Christie's where he was a Director in the Valuations Department. In 2012 he became an Associate Lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London.[3]

He has worked at the National Gallery as Adult Learning Officer, where he made a series of filmed lectures[4][5][6] and at the Royal Collection.[7] At the Royal Collection he organised the first escape game at Buckingham Palace.[8]

During his time as Museum Director, Turner's House's has hosted two acclaimed exhibitions, Between the Sheets: Turner's Nudes, curated by Franny Moyle and Jacqueline Riding,[9] and Seeing the Light: Turner's Discovery of Italy, curated by Carly Collier.[10]

He has appeared in the documentary Decoding Turner and on the podcast Artsing About With Georgie Turner and Sophie Doyle.
