Matthew Whittingham (born 21 October 2004) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Wolverhampton Wanderers.[1]
Career
[edit]Fron St Helens, he came through the youth academy at Manchester City, and signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2022.[2] Whittingham joined Wolves in September 2023 from Manchester City.[3] He was named in a Wolves first-team squad, and was an unused substitute, in the Premier League for the first time on 2 December 2023 away at Arsenal.[4]
Style of play
[edit]Whittingham has been described by Wolves Academy manager Jon Hunter-Barrett as a “good all-round midfielder” who is able to “initiate attack” as well as “sustain possession”.[5]
