The Metropolitan Atlanta Astrological Society (MAAS) is a group of dedicated Astrologers, beginners to advanced, which meets monthly at the Rene Goodale learning center in metropolitan Atlanta.
History[edit]
MAAS was founded in September 1975.[1] The goals were to create a non-judgmental environment in which to study this ancient artistic science, and to foster fellowship, mutual respect and cooperation between members. The group is committed to the highest ideals of professionalism.
The full history of MAAS began in 1959, when a gathering of people interested in Astrology started meeting regularly in Atlanta. Mrs. Ruth Stillman was the original leader of this study group. The next year Ms. Louise Bromley assumed leadership and held that position for eleven years. Soon the membership gave it the name the Advanced Astrological Studies Association of Atlanta.
As students gained proficiency and experience, they began teaching others and, over the years, the membership grew. In September 1971 this group changed its name to the Atlanta Astrological Society.
Atlanta expanded, and in September 1975 the name again evolved. To make the title more inclusive, the adjective “Metropolitan” was added to include the suburbs and other areas surrounding the city proper. MAAS has maintained this incarnation and title since.
Meetings[edit]
MAAS holds meetings each month, which participants can attend either in-person or remotely via online video conference. At each gathering a speaker presents information selected from a wide range of topics relating to this discipline, such as using Astrology to help time financial investments.
Sometimes the subject is Famous Astrologers, such as Nostradamus or Joan Quigley, the astrologer who some believe helped to save the life of former President Ronald Reagan and break the “Presidential Curse”.
In addition to monthly meetings, experienced astrologers at MAAS also teach classes in beginning through advanced astrology. Sometimes the classes teach specific knowledge, for example, Medical Astrology.
MAAS maintains an extensive library of astrological books with over 1100 different titles available for loan to members for study or research. On the website gently used books are offered for sale.

The MAAS website hosts many engaging features for the curious - blogs in which people exchange stories of how Astrology had bettered their lives and online articles with exciting topical subject matter.
Videos of many previous lectures are available to members on the website.
