Mobile Medical Response, Inc. (MMR) is a private, non-profit ambulance company that provides and manages emergency medical services and non-emergency transportation services throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula. It is the largest private ambulance company in the U.S. State of Michigan by geographical area. MMR is jointly owned by MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw, Covenant Health, and Munson Health.

History

[edit]

Mobile Medical Response was founded in 1994 as the result of a merger between Saginaw Mercy Ambulance (operated by St. Luke's Hospital - now known as Covenant Healthcare), and EMS of Saginaw (operated by Ascension St. Mary's - now known as MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw). The merger was created in order to combine the two companies efforts and provide a single EMS provider in Saginaw County. MMR started with 24 ambulances and around 100 employees, growing in 2024 to a fleet of over 120 emergency vehicles and over 700 employees, including road personnel, management, dispatching, and mechanical staff. In 1997, MMR was accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Ambulance Services.

On October 7th, 2020 Mobile Medical Response announced it would be merging with North Flight EMS, a subsidiary of Munson Healthcare. The merger would expand MMR's service area into Manistee, Wexford, and Grand Traverse counties.
