The Museum of Avant-garde (MA-g) is an art museum in Mendrisio, Switzerland. The museum is dedicated to the avant-garde art movements from the early 20th century to the present day.
History[edit]
The museum was established by a private collector who made their collection accessible to a wider audience while also providing a platform for contemporary talents.[1] The museum's first collection was made available online and continues to undergo digitization efforts to showcase rare and lesser-known works from prominent avant-garde artists. The museum venue will open to the general public in 2025.[2]

The museums's permanent collection features artworks by some of the most renowned figures of the avant-garde movement. Spanning various disciplines and backgrounds, the collection includes works by figurative artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, and Kazimir Malevich, as well as contributions from architects like Le Corbusier, Martin Gropius, and Hannes Meyer. Additionally, the collection showcases the works of photographers such as László Moholy-Nagy, Alexander Rodchenko, and Man Ray, alongside designs by Charles Eames and Herbert Bayer, and writings by Michel Seuphor, André Breton, and Tristan Tzara.[3]
The collection also highlights works by lesser-known artists who played pivotal roles in advancing the avant-garde ethos across Europe, America, and Asia, including quaint artifacts, photographic and graphic series, rare editions, and privately owned journal issues.[4]

The museum's contemporary collection from over 250 artists[5] includes present-day artworks that embody the spirit of the avant-garde movements. Artworks by individuals, creative agencies, and organizations include graphic design, photography, and illustration.[6]
