Nancy Armstrong (born on September 28, 1966) is an Emmy-nominated producer. She is known for her contributions to media, film, and advocacy, and she recently released the groundbreaking documentary, The Disruptors, exploring the subject of ADHD. She co-founded the award-winning women’s leadership and media platform, MAKERS. Armstrong's professional background includes a senior executive role at Ogilvy, Inc in NYC.
Early life and education[edit]
Armstrong was born on September 28, 1966 to Gerald and Santina Lessuk in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Her father, Gerald, served as a lawyer and labor negotiator for Brunswick Corporation. Nancy pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988. Later, she continued her academic pursuits at Boston University, where she received a Master of Arts degree in 1998, graduating summa cum laude.

Armstrong started her professional career as an actor and singer in Los Angeles, California. She co-starred in the widely acclaimed comedy series Third Rock from the Sun and made a guest appearance on LA Heat. Additionally, Armstrong played a lead role in the comedy pilot Kinks alongside Norm Crosby. Demonstrating her versatility, she took on the roles of writer, director, and performer in her one-woman show, A Look Beyond the Attitude, showcased at the renowned Cinegrill Theatre in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. In 1998, Armstrong transitioned into the field of global communications and investor relations in New York City. She held positions at Burson Cohn & Wolfe and Ogilvy, contributing to the strategic communication efforts of these prominent organizations. In 2022, Armstrong collaborated with accomplished filmmakers Stephanie Soechtig and Kristin Lazure of Atlas Films to produce a groundbreaking documentary on ADHD titled The Disruptors. This definitive and comprehensive film, featuring top experts on ADHD, as well as notable public figures such as Paris Hilton, Terry Bradshaw, will.i.am, David Neeleman, Howie Mandel, and others, provides a candid exploration of the often-misunderstood diagnosis. In 2012, Armstrong started on a new phase of her career when she co-founded MAKERS, a women's leadership and media platform. The series gained recognition and acclaim for its dedication to promoting and celebrating the achievements of women. The series' significant contribution to women's empowerment, historical documentation, and its broader impact on American society did not go unnoticed. MAKERS was honored with the Women’s Media Center Award, recognizing its groundbreaking efforts in reshaping the narrative around women's roles and contributions.

Philanthropy[edit]
In 2023, Armstrong spearheaded a national public service announcement (PSA) campaign in collaboration with the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Boom Media. Named "Upside of ADHD," the campaign aimed to reframe the perception of ADHD from a deficit disorder model to a brain type or trait model that underscores the significant strengths associated with the ADHD brain. Drawing on the pioneering work of Dr. Edward Hallowell and adopted by numerous experts, this model recognizes the dual nature of ADHD.

Armstrong entered into matrimony with Tim Armstrong in the year 2000. Tim Armstrong, known for his significant roles such as the former Google President, former Chairman and CEO of AOL, co-founder of Associated Content, founder of Patch, and the current CEO and founder of Flowcode, has been a notable figure in the technology and media industry. The couple has three children together.
