Neelkanth Annappa Kalyani (1926 - 2013) is the founder of the Kalyani Group. He established companies like Bharat Forge, Kalyani Forge, Kalyani Steels, Automotive Axles and Kalyani Sharp among several others. Neelkanth Kalyani was the pioneer of the forging industry in India.
His father, Annappa Kalyani was a self-made, wealthy trader. Upon his passing away in 1947, Neelkanth inherited a substantial amount of wealth which he meticulously put to use to lay the foundations of what he envisioned as a large and global industrial behemoth.
He received various awards from industry bodies as well as the government, particularly the Padma Shri award, for his contributions to industry and society. [1] [2]
