Brigadier Nicholas Marshall Wight-Boycott OBE is a currently serving British Army officer. He was officially promoted to Brigadier on 31 December 2023.
Early life and education
[edit]See also: Famous alumni of Loretto School Nicholas Wight-Boycott was educated at Loretto School, an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 0 to 18 in Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland.
Army career
[edit]Nicholas Wight-Boycott commissioned in 1997 from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1997. Upon commissioning as an officer, he joined the Royal Scots Borderers regiment. He filled many duties in the regiment and was deployed to many operations in Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia.
In 2006, Major Wight-Boycott led the 16 Air Assault Pathfinder Platoon in the Siege of Musa Qala in Afghanistan. He had become a Major and by 2011 and commanded the Balaklava Company of the 5th Battalion of the Royal Scottish Regiment. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant colenel in 2015 and became a Commanding Officer of the Royal Scots Borderers regiment.
In 2020, he became a colonel. He took the Advanced Command and Staff Course then took command of the Royal Scots Borderers regiment. On 31 December 2023, he officially became a Brigadier.
Awards and Decorations
[edit]Wight-Boycott was awarded a QCVS in 2011 for his service in Afghanistan (operational awards) and was awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours 2019 by the Queen.[1]
