O Descobridor dos Sete Mares (English: The Discoverer of the Seven Seas) is a studio album by the Brazilian composer and singer Tim Maia, released in 1983 by PolyGram through Jairo Pires's semi-independent label Lança.[1][3]
Songs
[edit]The song that gives the album its title was written by the composers Michel and Gilson Mendonça.[3] It is a continuation of the themes from "Do Leme ao Pontal", composed and recorded by Maia, naming famous Brazilian beaches like Ipanema, Leme, Praia Vermelha, and Ilhabela.[4]
Maia found out about the song "Me Dê Motivo", written by Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas, when two musicians of his supporting band played it while waiting for the singer at a rehearsal. He arrived at the studio in the middle of the song and it interested him. Maia's version had good commercial success on the radio and was the first hit written by the duo of Sullivan and Massadas.[5]
