Early life and education[edit]

His educational journey commenced at St. Francis Catholic Primary School, Owo, followed by Imade College in Owo, where he obtained his secondary school certificate. He furthered his education by obtaining his GCE A'level from the Polytechnic of Ibadan. Adelami holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos, a Master's in Business Administration from Ogun State University, Ago Iwoye,[5] and a Doctorate degree in Security and Strategic Studies from Nasarawa State University.[3]

Career[edit]

Adelami embarked on his career in Federal Civil Service in December 1983 as an Accountant II.[6] His dedication and expertise led him to the National Assembly Provisional Office in Abuja. In discharging his duty, Adelami had the privilege of establishing numerous departments within the civil service. These included the Finance and Accounts Department of the National Assembly, the Accounts Department of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund, and the Finance and Accounts Department of the Family Support Trust Fund.[3][5]

From 1996 to 2000, he led these departments, overseeing significant projects like the National Hospital Abuja.[3][7] Recognized for his outstanding performance and integrity, Adelami was called back to the National Assembly in 2000 to fortify the Finance Department.[3]

Rising through the ranks, he became Head of the Finance and Accounts Department until 2007 when he was appointed as Director. Following a senior management course at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru in Jos in 2008[5], he took on the challenge of spearheading the newly formed Department of Procurement and Supplies, training staff and elevating the department's standards.[8]

In 2014, Adelami was promoted to Permanent Secretary of the Directorate of Procurement, Estate, and Works, a role he held until his appointment as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly.[9] Throughout his career, he utilized his influence for the development of Owo community and beyond. Adelami retired in April 2018, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and service.[5]

Politics[edit]

Adelami transitioned into active politics in 2018, aligning himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC).[10] In preparation for the 2023 general elections, Adelami assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) for the Asiwaju-Shettima Presidential Agenda (ASPA), a pivotal support group advocating for the election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.[11]

His dedication and loyalty to the APC were recognized when he was nominated by the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and subsequently sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State on February 1, 2024.[8][12]
