In 2016, Olga Kern launched the The Olga Kern International Piano Competition (OKIPC) is a piano competition held in Albuquerque, New Mexica, USA.

The inaugural competition took place in Albuquerque November 13–20, 2016, and is held every 3 years. It is open to pianists 18 to 32 years old. It is presented by New Mexico Philharmonic with the competition's namesake Olga Kern serving as Artistic Director and President of the Jury.

The Albuquerque mayor Richard Berry, honored the festival and Olga Kern by issuing an executive order declaring November 20 "Olga Kern Day," coinciding with the final day of the inaugural 2016 competition.
