Olga Kouklaki is a Greek musician, songwriter, producer, vocalist and DJ, known for her intricate vocals and dark-pop electronica sounds.

Early Life & Education[edit]

Olga Kouklaki was born in Athens, Greece in 1979 and began playing the piano at 8 years old. Her initial exposure to music was rooted in classical studies, but she soon developed a fascination with the electronic scene.

Career[edit]

Upon venturing into the world of electronic music, Olga began DJing in local Greek bars and clubs, while honing her skills in music production. Her move to Paris in 2001 marked a significant step in her career, where she continued to DJ while broadening her musical education and venturing into other music genres. Being the creative person she is, she also began engaging in interior design.

F Communications Collab[edit]

On January 2003, after two years in Paris, Olga released her first track “Don’t look at me” by the UK label Sumsonic, under the alias ODD. “Don’t look at me” was remixed throughout the years by several producers, including Paul Rogers. Right after her first personal release, she participated in the live project of Jay Alanski aka A Reminiscent Drive, who previously achieved notable success with the hit track "Ambrosia" as a programmer-keyboard player while also DJ-ing at various venues.

Poni Hoax[edit]

Between 2003 - 2006, she recorded vocals for Fred Avril’s track “Tv Dinner” from the album “Member’s Only” and for Poni Hoax’s track “Budapest” receiving great reviews from music outlets all around Europe such as allmusic.com, xlr8r.com[2], laut.de and pitchfork.com.

The single “Budapest” is included in various compilations such as the UK’s Fabric 23 Compilation and reached the “Pitchfork Top 100[3] in 2006. During the same time, she participated in the live projects of Bang Bang album Silicon from Yellow Productions and Nouvelle Vague as a programmer-keyboard player while composing and working on her own projects.

In 2009, Olga collaborated for the second time with Poni Hoax on the track "The Soundtrack of Your Fears" Tigersushi Records. In the same years, she participated doing vocals on French artist Patrick Bouvet’s track “Night Call” and remixed Greek singer Dimitra Galani’s track “Den Ise Edo” released by Sony Music Greece.

Getalife[edit]

In 2007, her first EP “Getalife” was released, including Black Strobe’s Remix of the titular single, receiving great press reviews such as from obscuresound.com[4]

Four years later, in 2011, the single “Her Own Right”, was included in the music score for the French movie Paris by Night/Une Nuit directed by Philippe Lefebvre (film director) with Sara Forestier, Samuel Le Bihan and Roschdy Zem and also in the third season of the “Mafiosa” TV series in France.

I U Need[edit]

In 2012 she released her second personal album "I U Need" featuring artists Melanie Pain, Liset Alea, Tim Keegan and Fred Avril. The album received great reviews, such as from Les Inrockuptibles Magazine that referred to her as “the Pythia of Electronica”, and appeared as the N°1 best-selling album in Virgin Megastores / Grand Boulevards in Paris.

In 2013, “I U Need” was re-released as a bonus track version including remixes by Jori Hulkkonen, T. Finland, Marcello Giordani, Teeel, Nouvelle Vague, NTEIBINT and Thodoris Triantafillou & Cj Jeff amongst others. In the same year, the track “Stop” from the album, was included in the music score of the movie “Möbius”, starring Jean Dujardin, Cécile de France and Tim Roth amongst others.

Nomi Ruiz (Jessica 6)[edit]

In 2015, she collaborated with the American artist Nomi Ruiz aka Jessica 6 which resulted in the release of the EP “Fist” by EMI / UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP. The titular track got on rotation at the KCRW Radio Station in the US.

In the same year, Olga collaborated with Greek musician Savvas Ysatis on the tracks “White Holy” and “Big Fish Fight” that got released by Get Physical Music Label.

Kid Loco[edit]

In 2019, Olga collaborated with French artist Kid Loco and their track "La nuit la plus tendre" was released on the "Chill out Sessions by Kid Loco" compilation. In the same year, Kid Loco released his new album "The Rare Birds" which includes the tracks "Unfair Game" and "The Bond" co-written by him and Olga Kouklaki. The single "Unfair Game" got remixed by artists Patawawa, Ravages, Del'amott & Carlos and Olga herself, while the song’s video clip received many festival laurels from around the world such as the Swiss International Film Festival Award, Andromeda Film Festival (2020), Hollywood Venus Awards (2021) and Golden Wheat Awards (2021) amongst others. In March 2021, her track “Libre” was released on the “Balagan Beats 01 by Kid Loco” compilation by Wagram.

Dusty Diamond[edit]

In June 2021, “Haze”, the first single of her upcoming fourth personal album, was released with a music video directed by Laurent Kinowski, which received great press reviews such as from the Les Inrockuptibles and Bewaremag.com, and was awarded by “Clubbing Tv” as “Best Video Clip” in the Chill Out category and was presented live on the France 4 television show “Culturebox” in October 2021.

Her second single “Riddle” was released a month later in July. The complete album “Dusty Diamond”, including the very well received by the press, aforementioned singles “Haze” and “Riddle”, was released on the 21st of September 2021 including remixes by Kevin Yost, Mikael Delta, Of Norway and T. Finland amongst others. All the songs from the album were Published by Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).

Music Scores[edit]

In 2008 she composed and presented the music scores for two silent avant-garde films "Entr'acte" and "Les Aventures de Villar" for the French Film Festival held in Attikon Cinema in Athens at the Cinemix by IFA.

In the same year, she participated as a member of the jury of the “Festival de 4 écrans” held in Paris and of the “Public Digital Film Festival” held in Athens.

In 2013, the track “Stop” from the album “I U Need”, was included in the music score of the movie "Möbius", starring Jean Dujardin, Cécile de France and Tim Roth amongst others.
