Omilj Glišić (Belgrade, Kingdom of Serbia, 1892 - Šumata Trnica, Kingdom of Serbia, 21 March 1912) was an infantry lieutenant and Chetnik duke.
Biography
[edit]Omilj Glišić completed his high school education and [[Military Academy (Serbia)|Military College] in Belgrade. At the time of his college graduation the Serbian Chetnik Organization tried to recruit as many young officers as possible into the mountain staff in occupied-Old Serbia and Macedonia, Glišić was among the first to report, crossed the border and joined the company of vojvoda Petko Ilić. When Duke Petko was killed near Stracin on 17 March 1912, the company was divided into two sections for easier movement and to avoid pursuit. With a part of the company, Glišić retreated towards the Serbian border, but he was surrounded by the Turkish army near the village of Šumata Trnica. In that battle, Glišić was killed along with five other comrades, among whom was Antonije Sokolović, the younger son of Gligor Sokolović.[1][2][3]
