Officially established in 1924, Oneonta City School District is a public school district located in Oneonta, New York.[1] The district currently operates one high school, one middle school, and three elementary schools.[3] The district had an additional Center Street Elementary School until 2012, when it closed due budget concerns and lack of funding.[4][5] As of June 30, 2023, the district served 1,650 K-12 students.[6] As of the 2022-2023 school year, the district employs approximately 296 staff members.[2]

According to the 2018-22 ACS-ED data, the district serves a resident population of 20,425.[7] The median household income is $64,871, versus a state median income of $81,386, and a national median income of $75,149.[7]

In November of 2023, the district sought voter approval for a $30.45M capital improvement project.[8] The project intends to upgrade current facilities within the district, this includes replacing failing roofs, upgrading technology infrastructure, and further health and safety measures.[9]
