OrbitRemit is an international online money transfer service that facilitates international remittances and cross-border transactions. OrbitRemit is based in Wellington, New Zealand, with offices in multiple countries including Sydney, Australia.

History[edit]

OrbitRemit was founded in 2008 by Robbie Sampson.[1] and Tommy Heptinstall[2], with the intention to make international money transfer simple, faster and more affordable.

The company started by focusing on the Filipino remittance category, and has since grown to include India, Indonesia, Fiji, Vanuatu and more.

Services[edit]

As of 2024, OrbitRemit offers international money transfer from Australia and New Zealand to 45 countries.

OrbitRemit is an online money transfer platform that can be used to send money directly from the mobile phone app, desktop or tablet. Recipients can receive the money either directly to their bank account, cash pick up or digital wallet (eg GCash) depending on the currency.

Through the OrbitRemit app or website, users can create transactions, track their transfers and access customer support.

Licenses and Regulators[edit]

OrbitRemit is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commision (ASIC)[3], has an Australian Financial Services License[4] and is registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit (AUSTRAC)[5] as a money remitter.

In New Zealand, they are supervised by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) as a money remitter and are a member of the Financial Services Complaints Limited (FSCL)[6]
