P. H. Updike (1869–1943)[citation needed] was a banker and financier. He backed Lincoln Motion Picture Company in making the film By Right of Birth.[1]

He purchased an interest in and was chosen as president of Exchange National Bank.[2][3][4] He had been a banker in Nebraska.[5]

Architect W. J. Saunders (Walter Jesse Saunders)[6] was contracted to design a Swiss chalet style residence for Updike in South Pasadena, California.[7]
