P. Lal is an Indian author and a writer. He has authored six books and contributed several articles (around 120) to various important newspapers. He also served with distinction as an Indian Police Service ( IPS ) officer in the Punjab state of India and reached the highest rank of Director General of Police.[1],[2],[3], He was awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Independence Day 1993 [1],[2],[4] and Police Medal for Meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day 1987.[1],[2]

Early life and family[edit]

P. Lal was born on October 30, 1946, in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Lal received his education in Uttar Pradesh, mainly in Lucknow. He lives with his family (wife - Geeta Lal and daughter - Purnima Lal) in Chandigarh.[5]

Education and schooling[edit]

P. Lal earned a Master of Science (Physics) degree from Lucknow University, Uttar Pradesh in 1966.[5]

Writing and literary[edit]

P. Lal has authored six books and contributed a large number of articles in established and reputed newspapers such as The Tribune, Hindustan Times, and Daily World. His last three books—Gift of Life[6],[7],[8],[9], River Saraswati and the Aryans[10],[11],[12], and Hindu, Hinduism and Hindutva-Bharat a Sanatana Rashtra[13],[14],[15],[16],[17],[18] —form a trilogy that examines ideas from ancient Indian texts and modern science and technology. These books attempt to fuse, synthesize, and reconcile these ideas, prioritizing reason and rationality in case of conflict.

His articles to newspapers cover a wide range of subjects, including the Indian Constitution, conflict between the Central Bureau of Investigation and state police, terrorism, corruption in public services, scientific perspectives on the concept of God, and explore various aspects of human behavior, emotions, actions, and reactions.

All six books by P. Lal have been launched by the highest dignitaries of Indian states viz. Governors. The forewords of these books have been written by eminent individuals, and the books have received wide publicity and public acclaim.
