PJ Mercanti (born August 15, 1980) is a Canadian businessman and sports executive.[1] He is the CEO of Carmens Group[2][3] and the President of the Hamilton Urban Precinct Entertainment Group.[4]

Education[edit]

Mercanti holds a business degree from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana.[5]

Career[edit]

Mercanti has been the CEO of Carmens Group[6][7] and the President of the Hamilton Urban Precinct Entertainment Group (HUPEG) overseeing the City of Hamilton’s largest downtown revitalization project.[8][9]

In 2017, Mercanti assumed ownership of the Hamilton Cardinals, a historic sports franchise in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL).[10][11][12] He has also served as the President of Hamilton's 2030 Commonwealth Games Bid.[13][14][15]

In October 2021, Mercanti orchestrated a partnership between HUPEG and the Oak View Group (OVG) to spearhead the arena redevelopment efforts.[16][17][18]

Mercanti has organized events featuring notable figures such as Al Pacino,[19] Sylvester Stallone,[20] Wayne Gretzky,[21][22] and others for different charitable causes.

Mercanti produced a short-documentary titled Harley that premiered at the San Jose International Short Film Festival in 2016.[5]

Mercanti resides in Hamilton, Ontario with his wife Diana and three children.[5]
