Pamela De Rosa (Milan, June 13 1981) is an italian employee in aeronautical field, a volunteer, writer, former politician and activist for human and civil rights.

Biography

Pamela was born in Milan, from Nicola, an employee of the local police in the municipality of Rho, who died in 2015 from an aggressive form of gastric cancer, not before receiving a solemn commendation from the Municipality of Rho, and Maria, employee in a company of the Milan hinterland, who died in 2018 from an intestinal heart attack complicating an already complex systemic picture caused by a rheumatological disease.

He has two sisters: Paola, the eldest and Tania, the youngest.

The origins of the parents are from Puglia and Basilicata, of which she is very proud and maintains the traditions, especially culinary.

Pamela De Rosa was born healthy but at about 10 months due to a streptococcus infection, she had convulsions and rheumatic fevers, convulsions which worsened after contracting an aggressive form of measles.

From an early age she had to deal with pain, which however did not prevent her from practicing numerous sports: volleyball, basketball, athletics and above all rhythmic gymnastics, sponsored by REDE of Parabiago (MI).

She obtained a merit scholarship at the Romano Rancilio school in Villastanza of Parabiago. Subsequently, she embarked on a path to scientific high school because her wish was to become a doctor, a wish which did not come true due to her mother's serious health problems which forced her to enter the world of work to support the family. She’s extremely proud of her choice.

Around the age of twenty, the health problems worsened and Pamela had to face numerous visits to get a diagnosis, which never officially arrived.

In 2018, after numerous tests, she was diagnosed with a form of connective tissue disease, which in a few months caused damage to the musculoskeletal system with walking problems.

She undertook the therapies that led her to a stabilization of the disease.

She works full-time at Lufthansa Technik Milan srl as an employee. She is very satisfied with her working life and the sensitivity that the company has for invisible disabilities.

She loves cooking, even though illness often prevents her from doing so. She has 3 cats, she loves animals, to travel because she want to learn about cultures that are different from her own.

In 2021 she got married in a civil ceremony after four years of relationship.

Activism

She is a volunteer at APMARR, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEOPLE WITH RHEUMATOLOGICAL AND RARE DISEASES and at the LUCA COSCIONI ASSOCIATION.

With APMARR, for which she is national councilor, she has participated in various projects, such as "Passione Accesa", "good to eat" and has held some lessons on the subject of invisible disabilities in some schools of her Region.

She is also active in her municipality of residence, Somma Lombardo (VA), in the accessible city advisory commission, doing her utmost to remove cultural barriers regarding invisible disabilities.

It has done its utmost to collaborate with the institutions to resolve the particular situations that people with disabilities face regarding the difficulty for disabled stalls.

She is a speaker at RAINBOW DIVERSAMENTE RADIO to bring to light the difficulties of people with disabilities in dealing with entertainment or leisure events in general and, of course, Invisible Disability, with her weekly radio show “Le disabilità Invisibili”.

With the Luca Coscioni Association she participated in the collection of signatures as a promoter in her area for the Legal Euthanasia Referendum and in some conferences on Invisible Disabilities.

With the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme Limited fights for the Sunflower Lanyard to enter the culture of citizenship to make visible disabilities that are not visible at first sight.

Political activity

For about 10 years Pamela De Rosa actively participated in the political life of the city of Parabiago, first in the Sinistra Giovanile, then in the Democratici di Sinistra, finally, through Rosa nel Pugno in the PSI, where she obtained a candidacy for the Chamber of Deputies in 2008 [1].

Honours

In 2022 she was awarded the title of Cavaliere al Merito of the Italian Republic [2].
