Draft:Parvez Parwaz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parvez Parwaz is a self-acclaimed social and political activist from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

His importance and relevance lies because of his long-standing struggle with Yogi Adityanath, Mahant of Gorakhnath Peeth and the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Beginning[edit]

The struggle between Adityanath and Parvez Parwaz began in the year 2007.

In 2007 Adityanath was arrested after riots, sparked by the murder of a Hindu boy, in Gorakhpur and sent to Gorakhpur Jail, where he remained for 11 days. [1]

This was followed by registration of large number of FIRs, some of which also named Yogi Adityanath.

One of the most talked about case was registered by Parvez Parvaz, who claimed to be a social activist. This case was transferred to CBCID, which found Adityanath to be prima-facie guilty and submitted a Charge Sheet against him.

The Pervez Parwaz case ended in 2018 when the Yogi Adityanath government decided not to grant Prosecution sanction to this case. [2]

As of 2024, some 2007 Gorakhpur riot cases remain pending in various law courts. [3] [4]
